Poker is a card game that can be played by two or more people. Each player places an initial amount of money into the pot before the cards are dealt. A good poker player is able to read the other players at the table. Look for tells such as eye movement, idiosyncratic behavior and betting patterns. For example, a player who is swallowing excessively or blinking may be revealing that they are nervous. Alternatively, a player who calls frequently but then makes a large raise on later streets could be holding a strong hand.
